Futrex to Describe its Proprietary Techniques
Futrex has accepted an invitation to present a detailed technical paper describing its unique technology on performing non-invasive blood glucose measurement. The paper will be presented to the prestigious "Chambersburg Conference;" a near-infrared specialist conference held every two years at Wilson College in Chambersburg, West Virginia during the third week in August..
Futrex stated that this will be the first time the company has ever disclosed its proprietary and patented techniques for performing non-invasive blood glucose measurement, "The reason it was decided to make this presentation is that Futrex now recognizes it is almost impossible for a company of its small size to seek and obtain FDA approval on the non-invasive blood glucose measurement instrument."
By describing its patented technology, the company hopes to achieve either of two objectives:
- First, Futrex wants to help speed the development of the non-invasive technology among the twenty companies that have announced they are attempting to make blood glucose measurements using near-infrared techniques. Futrex believes its patented approaches would allow other companies to achieve success and may be willing to license its technology.
- Second, Futrex is now investigating possible sale of its non-invasive blood glucose meter to a larger company so that the product can be brought to market. Such a sale could include the "Dream Beam" design, the more than seventeen patents, as well as certain trade secret technologies.
Futrex has recently completed the data collection phase of the formal clinical trials involving over 100 diabetic volunteers. These trials were done in each individual's home and covered more than forty-five days of home testing (in some cases considerably longer). The purpose of these clinical trials is to demonstrate that the Futrex non-invasive "Dream Beam" instrument does provide blood glucose measurements equivalent to finger stick units. Moreover, the Futrex measurements are totally painless and do not require a blood sample or any disposable items.
